── PLAN SELLING · THE SOURCE OF TRUTH

One way to measure what good looks like. PLAN Selling.

The complete, buyer-centric sales methodology behind the Build Log's numbers: PLAN at the center, five frameworks built around it, and the operating rhythm that inspects all of it. Scan the summaries below, then click into any framework for the full deep dive and the story behind it.

── WHY THIS EXISTS

I spent my first fifteen years building teams and leading people. Not just building the engine, but making sure it produced the results. And there is only one way that happens across a whole team: consistency in how you measure what good looks like.

The problem was the measuring sticks on offer. I was never a fan of the sales-centric models: the acronym checklists that grade what the seller extracted from the deal. A rep can fill every box on one of those and still lose, because the boxes describe the seller's activity, not the buyer's reality.

So the methodology got built the other way around. Every framework on this page starts from the buyer's side of the table: their problem, their priorities, their committee, their timeline. The seller's job is to read that reality honestly and move it forward, one mutual commitment at a time. PLAN is that read, and everything else here exists to feed it.

It is also how the number got honest. When every deal is measured the same way, coaching lands on real gaps, reviews take minutes instead of meetings, and the forecast becomes something you earn. Installed and inspected weekly, this is the system behind a forecast that went from 65 to 94 percent accurate and a win rate that doubled. The frameworks are open. Take them and run them.

THE ROADMAP · WHY THIS ORDER

Three moves, in causal order, on purpose.

Most GTM mistakes are order-of-operations mistakes, and the most common one is hiring the people before understanding the problem they are being hired to solve. Then the motion gets built around the team you happen to have instead of the buyer you actually serve. The work is usually right. The sequence is wrong.

So the roadmap runs in the only order that holds. Understand what you are solving and for who. Then hire and raise the team against it. Then build the sales motion around all of it. Each move hands the next one its inputs, and the last one ties back to the first, so the system compounds instead of resetting.

Every framework on one shelf, from GIANT to VALUE, each linking to its own deep dive: the story, the letters, and what good looks like.

── THE POSITION

Buyer-centric is not a slogan. It is what the letters ask about.

THE SALES-CENTRIC MODELS ASK

Did I identify the economic buyer?

Did I get my champion?

Did I complete my qualification criteria?

Every question grades the seller's extraction. A rep can score perfectly and still lose, because none of it asks whether the buyer has a problem worth solving.

PLAN ASKS

Is there a pinpointed problem with a cost attached?

Is solving it one of their current priorities?

Is the decision path mapped, people, criteria, blockers, timeline?

Every question grades the buyer's reality. When the answers are yes, the deal closes itself politely. When they are no, you know today, not at the forecast call.

── 02 / THE CYCLE

Five frameworks orbit it. Each one hands off to the next.

SMART earns the discovery. SPRINT's situation and problem feed PLAN's P. What PLAN pinpoints decides what CLEAN shows. CLEAN's outcomes feed VALUE's picture of what good looks like. LEARN runs any time a concern shows up. Click any move to go deep.

── 03 / THE OPERATING RHYTHM

A methodology nobody inspects is a poster.

This is the half most teams skip. The frameworks tell a rep what good looks like; the rhythm is how a leader measures it, coaches it, and turns it into a forecast worth defending.

The PLAN Deal Review

The deal-by-deal read: the five questions, a score out of 25, and the forecast call. Sixty seconds on what happened, the rest on what has to happen next.

The Pipeline Review

The weekly rhythm across the book: coverage, the red-flag deals, every commit scored red-yellow-green on PLAN. Rep level, and rolled up for the leader.

The Rep Scorecard

Coach the craft, not the deal: score the rep on every framework, find the one gap holding them back, build the plan. Coaching that compounds.

Playbook + skill →

This rhythm is the I and S of RAISE: inspect the work, sharpen the coaching. The methodology is what gets inspected; the rhythm is the inspecting.

THE SPLIT, APPLIED

The AI runs the framework. You run the room.

Each framework becomes a skill. The AI drafts the SMART outreach, preps the SPRINT questions, scores the deal against PLAN, builds the CLEAN demo flow, coaches the LEARN response, and assembles the VALUE case. It does the prep, the scoring, and the drafting. You do the conversation. Reps in the room, not out of it.
